Most dictionaries define ‘struggle’ as experiencing difficulty and making a great effort in the face of that difficulty to get something done or to do something.
We have all been there, everyone has struggled at some point, and many of you reading this might be struggling right now, but one thing that you always need to remember is that things can and will always get better, it is okay not to be okay, and it is okay to struggle once in a while, nobody is perfect.
Why do people struggle?
This is quite an open-ended question because there are a range of reasons behind why someone might struggle, but ultimately, there are a few key reasons as to why someone might be struggling:
- You don’t ask for help – While some tasks require you to go it alone, often, many people struggle at things that they would be able to overcome if they just swallowed their pride and asked for help. Remember, asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness.
- You Blame others and fail to take responsibility – While some of us cannot control what happens in our lives, those that do have control should take steps to grab the bull by the horns and take responsibility for our actions. Often, those that struggle the most are typically the ones that will blame their misdoings on others, this is not a good attitude to have.
- They are afraid – This is a big one because fear is the biggest component when it comes to people not achieving their potential and struggling as a result. If something scares you, that is a good thing because life begins outside of our comfort zone, if we are not afraid, and afraid to fail, then we run the risk of staying stuck in a rut, and as a result, we continue the cycle of struggle.
