Just in case you hadn’t heard of it, the 2009 Movie ‘Up’ was a 3-D computer animates comedy produced by Pixar! It is, in fact, the tenth animated movie that Pixar made and has grown to be hugely popular over time with kids, young adults, and cartoon fans alike!
The movie is centered around an old widower named Carl Fredricksen and a young explorer named Russell. In the film, 78-year-old Carl ties thousands of balloons to his home to finally see the wilds of South America and fulfil his promise to his late wife, Ellie. It is directed by Pete Doctor, who had spent 4-5 years working on it, and claimed that he inspired it with to want to escape from reality every once in a while!
Up was released in May 2009 and opened the 2009 Cannes Film Festival, becoming the first animated and 3D film. The film became a tremendous financial success, accumulating over $731,342,744 in its theatrical release. At the time of its release, this made it the 33rd highest-grossing film of all time and the sixth highest-grossing animated film of all time!!
