How to celebrate an online graduation party
The 2020 pandemic may have changed the way some graduates choose to celebrate their milestone. But it has not stopped families – and entire communities – from coming together. Virtual bashes are common these days. With good planning and a few helping hands, you too, can make your graduate’s occasion extra special.
One of the first things to consider is what kind of graduation party you want to have. Do you want a strictly online blowout, a drive-by, or a combination? Who will be invited? What’s your budget? Do you want a formal or a casual theme? When in doubt, coordinate with your graduate!
A party will not be complete without invitations. Ensure that these elements are included in the graduation invitations:
- Full name (and photo) of the graduate;
- Name of school or university (as well as graduation year);
- Degree title and/or honors received;
- Date, time, and location of the event (include link and/or password for virtual party).
Next, take care of food, games (optional), décor, and gifts. Just because you’re celebrating at home doesn’t mean you should put in little effort. Prepare your graduate’s favorite foods, dress for the occasion, and surprise them with a practical gift to equip them for adulthood. You can even ask a relative or close friend to give a speech.
