We all know someone with cancer. It is one of the most dangerous diseases that there is, and most of us have been affected by it at some stage, through having it ourselves or knowing a friend or family member who has dealt with it.

If you are looking to host an event, or a fundraiser in a bid to raise awareness about a certain type of cancer, or perhaps raise funds for treatment, then look no further than these 10 designs. Each of the design templates below has been created to make your life easier when advertising an event. Gone are the days when you have to create a design from scratch, now, you can download a ready-made design, and edit it to suit your event.

However, before we dive straight into the advertising side, we will offer you a few helpful tips on how to plan a cancer awareness event, so you can get started right away!

Planning your Event

There are a few key steps that should be followed if you want to see a successful cancer awareness event take place. If you follow these few steps, you won’t go far wrong:

Begin with the end in mind

What is the primary objective of your cancer awareness campaign or cancer fundraiser? Do you know a cancer patient, or the surviving family in need of financial support? Do you see unhealthy behaviors in the people around you that could be changed through awareness and education? These are questions that you should be asking yourself before setting up an event. Answering these questions will help you to outline your goals more clearly.

A successful cancer awareness campaign is much more likely to be achieved if you have specific goals in mind and can share them clearly with other people. This is the time to identify your cancer awareness campaign focus, as well. Will you focus on Breast Cancer Awareness, Survivor Support, or encouraging regular prostate exams (prevention and early detection)?

Date and Location

You may see ‘set a date’ and think “duh”, but there is a lot more to setting a date than just plucking a day and date out of the sky. In fact, weather patterns, commute schedules, school holidays, competing events and a number of other factors can make a big difference in determining the best date and time of day for your event. If you are planning a cancer awareness day for your office or school, you’ll want to consult primary decision-makers before setting a date.

Location is also key with any event. Simplicity is best, and you should take your target audience into consideration too.  If you are planning an event for work, it is usually easiest to hold the event at work, in the parking lot, break room or common area, so that people aren’t required to travel to a separate location in order to participate.

School cancer awareness campaigns can be held in the gym, or during a sporting event, wherever you are most likely to reach the most people for the cause. If you are planning a community cancer awareness campaign event, a central location with high traffic flow is usually the most desirable.

Get people involved

Whether it’s just a couple of close friends, or a team of community members, this is one time that two heads really are better than one, and many hands make light work. Trying to pull off a successful cancer awareness campaign on your own can be overwhelming. Reach out to those around you to build a team of volunteers who are as excited about the cause as you are.

Create a Hook

To be honest, ‘cancer awareness’ is probably enough of a hook, but even having a cake sale or a movie night or a show, or something that will give people an extra reason to pop along is always a good idea. Be creative!

Follow Through

If your goal was to raise money to help a local family, be sure to report back to those involved about the success of your campaign, and make arrangements to have the funds delivered. If your plan was to educate and prevent, calculate the number of visitors and amount of information disseminated.  Whatever your target or goal happened to be, be sure to follow through on it and highlight how successful the campaign (and everyone’s efforts) was.
